BOLOGNA: FROM THE MOTOR SHOW TO ITS HIDDEN CANALS  The most important international automobile exhibition, the Motor Show, is held in Bologna in December, now at its 33rd annual event. Few people know, however, that in addition to being famous for its motor show, Bologna hides a city that once claimed boats as its means of transports: in the XV Century Bologna, in fact, had kilometres of canals crossing it, just like Venice or Amsterdam. Today this water world is one of Bologna’s best kept secrets, as the canals have been covered through the centuries and all traces have been duly hidden... except for a small window in Via Piella, through which one sees the old «canale delle Moline» peacefully running underneath the city, free and undisturbed. To discover these secret waterways of Bologna the association "Amici delle Acque e dei Sotterranei di Bologna" organises guided visits, for a different tour of the city.
