Manchester Apartments

Manchester's hosting of the Commonwealth Games in 2002 saw a large expansion in the range of accommodation available. As a result most of the mid-price chains are now well represented (Ibis, Travelodge, Premier Travel Inn, Days Hotel, Novotel and so on). You can book via their websites, though Manchester is now a popular weekend destination so things can still get busy around peak times such as Bank Holidays (August Bank Holiday generally coincides with the Manchester Pride event and is especially busy).

Although there is not such a vast choice of ‘sleep cheap’ accommodation, there are a few hostels in Manchester that are even located quite centrally. The best known is probably the Manchester Youth Hostel at Potato Wharf.

If you don’t have the urge to sleep in the big city itself, check out one of the (usually private) B&B’s in one of the surrounding areas. Most places are well connected to Manchester by public transport.
