 The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, one of the oldest and most famous musical events in Italy and in Europe, is a well established cultural event held in the city of Florence during the entire month of May since 1933, at Teatro Comunale and Teatro Goldoni. For over a month the city comes alive with evenings dedicated to opera, concerts, ballet and exhibitions. The theme of this year's festival, now in its 73rd edition, is "Towards the Orient", and will present pieces inspired by Oriental culture. The main features are "The Woman Without A Shadow" by Strauss, set in China, and "The Forgotten Seed", a performance of Indian dances by Alarmèl Valli. The much awaited performance among new productions includes The Man in the Box, interpreted by the principal dancer of the National Ballet of Canada Guillaume Coté.
